I am an Earth Doctor; distinguished conservation biologist; and for over the past two and a half decades I have studied Nature in both hemispheres. I have a PhD in subalpine Eucalyptus eco-stress tree physiology from The University of Melbourne.
I love trees and I knew so as a child - in fact a tree planting ritual each springtime with my Dad turned into my passion and my life-long calling.
Over two decades ago, I founded Global Forest Science - a conservation institute that protects fragile ecosystems, short circuits ecological disasters and produces ecological education for children around the globe.
I am an award-winning science communicator: voice for ecology, broadcaster, public speaker, blogger, writer and author of 8 books.
I believe that by following Nature’s blueprint we as a society can significantly reduce our global footprints on this exquisite blue planet.
I also fervently believe that “all pollution and all waste are lost profit.” And that by following Nature’s blueprint individuals, small businesses, colleges, corporations and governments can significantly reduce their operating costs, erase their footprints thereby becoming environmental champions.
Furthermore, the economy is a wholly owned subsidiary of the environment.
Humans were designed to solve problems; in fact, I believe that for every problem there are at least THREE solutions.
I’m a student of anti-aging. I enjoy organic gardening, local beekeeper’s honey, cooking, theater, movies, racing sailboats, moon watching and spending time in the high country with the ancient-ones: Great Basin bristlecone pines.
